Match the line items to your work

Freelance work

For hourly work, enter the hours as quantity and your hourly price as rate. For a fixed project, use a quantity of one and name the deliverable clearly.

Contractor work

Separate labor and materials into their own rows. Put the job reference in the notes and record any deposit under Paid so the remaining balance is clear.

Consulting

Describe the engagement, milestone, or billing period. Include a due date and agreed payment terms so the client knows what the invoice covers.

Customize, preview, then download

  1. Open a design using one of the buttons above. You can change it in the editor using Choose template.
  2. Add your logo, invoice number, dates, business details, and client details.
  3. Enter the line items and any adjustments, then check the balance due.
  4. Use Preview invoice to inspect the actual layout, then Download PDF. Sign in if you want to save and reopen the editable invoice.

Opening a template starts a new invoice. To continue an existing invoice, use My saved invoices after signing in.

Before you send the PDF

Check the recipient, invoice number, currency, due date, and payment details. Choosing a currency does not convert the prices you enter. These are editable layouts; they do not determine which taxes or invoice requirements apply to your business.

The download is a PDF, rather than a Word or Excel template. You can edit the invoice in the browser before downloading, or reopen a saved invoice from your account.
